Honda Motor Co. has abruptly terminated production of its Acura ZDX electric crossover in the United States, scrapping plans for the 2026 model year just months before scheduled assembly. The Japanese automaker attributed the decision to shifting market demands and strategic realignment, though it will continue manufacturing the GM-built Prologue EV in Mexico.

The ZDX's cancellation deals a blow to General Motors' Tennessee plant, which had been contracted to produce the vehicle. GM had viewed the partnership as a springboard for scaling its domestic EV capabilities. Honda sold approximately 19,000 units of the discontinued model in the past year, but neither company disclosed terms for unwinding the production agreement.
